The traditional method of gold extraction is derived from the soil in the form of natural or gold sand. The new technology differs from it in that it is refined through the chemical processing of copper ore or other ores containing gold. Metals are extracted directly from the ore by means of water and cyanate compounds that are easily combined with gold. A similar approach helps to extract almost all of the gold from the ore, but the process is extremely slow and expensive, requiring at least 100--120 hours, and the cost per ounce of gold (30 grams) obtained in this way is approximately About 800 dollars.
According to Tarasov, a professor at the Russian National Research University of Art and Engineering, the new technology is three to seven times faster than the traditional method of refining gold, and the impact of impurities such as copper is also less. Mining companies will spend less time and resources than before to extract gold from copper.
It is reported that a gold mine in Tajikistan has tested this new method. The company’s experts and scholars said that the new technology is capable of fulfilling the task of separating copper from gold, while the Western method of extracting gold from ore has not succeeded in achieving this.
