Xiao Lei is a researcher at the Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He and Wu Zhao, Chen Yujun, and colleagues successfully used the inducible (Tet-on/off system) lentivirus expression system to express transcription factors to successfully reprogram porcine adult somatic cells into pluripotent stem cells. After further screening and identification, a porcine iPS cell line (inducible pluripotent stem cell line) conforming to the pluripotent stem cell standard was finally obtained. These cell lines are similar in morphology to human embryonic stem cells and have similar expression of stem cell marker genes as human embryonic stem cells.
