Global crude steel output increased 9.6% year-on-year in July

According to a report issued by the World Steel Association on August 20, global crude steel production in July increased by 9.6% from the same period last year to 115 million tons, of which China's crude steel production increased by 2.2% year-on-year to 51.7 million tons, accounting for more than half.

According to the International Steel Association’s crude steel production data for June, China’s crude steel production increased by 9% to 53.9 million tons for the same month, and global crude steel production increased by 4.1% year-on-year to 119 million tons.

This also means that China’s crude steel production in July fell by 4% month-on-month, slightly higher than the 3.4% drop in global crude steel production.

According to the data of the International Steel Association on the 20th, in spite of the year-on-year increase, the world’s crude steel production in July was still 2.1% lower than the July 2008 high before the financial crisis, but China, South Korea and Iran’s July coarse Steel production was higher than in July 2008, while production in the United States, Germany, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, and Japan had not yet returned to levels before the economic crisis.
