Traction molecular pump structural characteristics

The rotor of the traction molecular pump has a rotatable rotor. The rotor is surrounded by grooves and separated by baffles. Each groove is equivalent to a single-stage molecular pump, the inlet of the next stage is connected to the outlet of the previous stage. There is a 0.01mm gap between the rotor and the pump housing. Gas molecules from the entrance into the pump chamber, carried by the rotor to the outlet side, the exhaust pipe by the forepump pumping. The advantages of traction molecular pump start-up time is short, in the molecular flow state has a high compression ratio, can remove all kinds of gas and steam, especially for pumping heavier gases. But with its own weaknesses: pumping speed is small, the sealing gap is too small, poor reliability, easy to mechanical failure, so in addition to special needs, but in fact rarely used. It was replaced by a diffusion pump with simple structure and pumping speed.
