According to a vendor in Southeast Asia, at least 30% of methyl ethyl ketone applications can be replaced with ethyl acetate, which means that ethyl acetate solvent demand will increase by about 10%, which is equivalent to the monthly increase of 4,000 tons of ethyl acetate demand.

The shutdown of the methyl ethyl ketone plant of Maruzen Petrochemicals has caused the price of methyl ethyl ketone in East China to respond. On March 11, the price of methyl ethyl ketone in east China was RMB 10,500 to RMB 11,000/ton, and on March 15, it had risen to RMB 12,500/ton, a rise of 1,500. ~2000 yuan/ton. Due to the shortage of raw material acetic acid, the spot price of ethyl acetate in Asia has continued to rise. Since January, prices have increased by 4% to 9.45%. This week, the export price of China's original ethyl acetate exporter has increased by US$10-20/tonne to approximately US$1070/tonne (FOB).
