Application effect of new type sand in grinding ball production

The production of sand insulation riser is a key process in the production process of grinding balls. The quality of the heat-insulating riser directly affects the grinding ball yield and the quality of the ball. Therefore, the selection of sand type is crucial. Over the years, our factory has been using water glass sand to make insulation risers, and has done a lot of optimization experiments, but the results are not satisfactory. The molding sand often appears in the shape of the mixed sand, which is the surface hardening failure, and the mold sticking during demoulding. It is not easy to clean up. After repeated trials and comparisons, the new type sand was used instead of water glass sand to make the heat insulation riser, which achieved good application results in actual production.

1. Main components and performance characteristics of new type sand

The new type sand is a type of sand made by Guilin No.1 as a binder, while Guilin No.1 is a product name, which is processed from the root system and belongs to inorganic binder. It is a patented product of Professor Liu Yuman, in actual production. A wider range of applications have been obtained.

(1) Main ingredients Carbohydrate, carboxylated natural plant, cellulose, ether P10 tapioca powder + heat sensitive plant.

(2) Performance characteristics 1 milky powder, p H7.5 ~ 8, non-toxic, harmless, slightly fragrant, easy to hydrolyze, mineral flexibility, good plasticity. 2 can greatly improve the hot and wet tensile strength, collapsibility, gas permeability and concessibility of the molding sand, strengthen the surface air drying, and resist powdering. 3 After the tide type is quickly or naturally strengthened, it can replace the dry type and water glass sand and resin sand type. The casting quality can reach the level of furan resin sand, but the mold hardening speed is slow.

2. Optimization test and process operation specifications for new type sand

Through repeated production practices, our factory has optimized the sand ratio (see table below) to ensure the quality of the insulation riser.

The technical specifications for the new type of sand are as follows:

(1) The S114C sand mixer is selected for the preparation of Guilin No.1 sand, which requires ≤500kg per feeding.

(2) When mixing sand, first add old sand, new sand, bentonite, and Guilin No. 1 for dry mixing. After dry mixing, add water and wet mix. After mixing, stop and discharge.

(3) When the tide type replaces the dry type to produce thick castings, the exhaust measures should be strengthened: the total cross-sectional area of ​​the upper air outlet riser should be larger than the total cross-sectional area of ​​the inner runner. For the excessively high sand box, the side should have a row. Stomata, igniting gas during pouring.

3. Precautions for new sand application

(1) Since the mold temperature is high after repeated casting of the metal mold, the mold is seriously worn, and a thin layer of water-based paint should be sprayed before each molding.

(2) Try a few furnaces for the first time to determine the exact amount to be added.

(3) There is old sand recycling, and Guilin No. 1 and clay should be reduced at the time of preparation.

4. Application effect

(1) After the use of Guilin No.1 in our unit, it does not stick to the mold during demolding, and the root of the riser and the riser have no sticky sand, which is easy to clean.

(2) The porosity and sand inclusion defects generated by the grinding ball are significantly reduced.

(3) After use, the old sand has no inert mold, and can be directly reused without any treatment, which reduces pollution and saves costs.
