Recently, the "high-energy, high-capacity lithium-sulfur secondary batteries and battery packs" developed by the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as "Dalian Institute of Chemical Industry") with independent intellectual property rights passed the China Light Industry Association in Beijing. The identification of the scientific and technological achievements of the organization: The appraisal opinion is: The project technology has reached the international advanced level in general, in which the energy density has reached the international advanced level.
The specific energy is the energy that the unit weight or the unit volume can release, and is an important performance index of the battery. Lithium-sulfur battery is a high-energy-ratio secondary battery with rich raw material reserves, environment-friendly and low-cost, and it is the next-generation secondary battery technology that is closest to practical application. However, elemental sulfur is an insulative material, has low electrode reactivity, is easy to lose, and has relatively few battery engineering techniques, which seriously hinders the practical application of such batteries.
In recent years, the research group of Dalian Institute of Materials Research led by Chen Jian has conquered a series of lithium-sulfur battery engineering problems, developed key materials and key components for high-performance batteries, and developed large-capacity lithium-sulfur batteries and battery technology.
Third-party inspection report shows that the specific energy of the 35Ah battery developed by the research group reaches 566Wh/kg (measured at 25°C), the specific energy of the 39Ah battery reaches 616Wh/kg (measured at 50°C), and the specific energy of the 1kWh lithium-sulfur battery reaches 332Wh/kg. This is the world’s most energy-efficient lithium-sulfur battery and battery pack.
At the same time, large-capacity lithium-sulfur batteries have passed third-party safety performance tests using electric vehicle power battery standards.
Recently, the research group has made important progress in the practical application of batteries, and developed the first 12kWh lithium-sulfur battery-photovoltaic cell demonstration system with independent intellectual property rights in China, and successfully operated to realize lithium-sulfur batteries in energy storage. The practical application of power plants, automotive power supplies and other fields has laid the technical foundation. (Reporter Yan Huimin)
