Scientists at the National Institute of Science and Technology in Ulsan, South Korea, have been studying the tentacles of octopuses. They found that the tentacles of this cephalopod have a pressure system on their tentacles. This system consists of a sucker and its surrounding muscles. When the octopus wants to grasp something, a group of muscles will control the suction cup to contract, the hole in the wall will become smaller, and the suction will be made. When releasing the thing, another group of muscles will be used to perform the opposite process to release the sucker pressure in order to walk.
HyunhubKo is a research leader and he believes that this applied research has broad prospects. From circuits, pressure sensors to medical adhesive pads, adhesive-free adsorption systems will change our understanding of nano-printing.
Ko and his team think that the best way to duplicate the way octopus suckers work is to use heat. They chose polydimethylsiloxane, a rubber-silicon material, to create a nanosheet containing a suction-cup-like array with pores that function like holes in octopus suction cups and stay open at normal room temperature. . When this sheet is warmed to 32°C, the pores will automatically shrink and generate suction.
Currently, the Ko team is trying to apply their nanomaterials to semiconductor nanobelts, which can make microchips. Ko hopes that the application scenario can be further extended to the field of medical adhesives, such as sensors used to hold heart rate instruments. The nanosheets' lack of glue can reduce allergic reactions that patients may have.
Autoclavable and Universally Compatible PCR Tubes
Ensuring efficient and uniform heat transfer becomes a lot easier with our range of PCR tubes. Thanks to our advanced molding technology, Yongyue Medical can offer you high-quality and uniformly thin-wall PCR tubes at the most competitive prices.
These sterile PCR tubes come with a leakage-proof snap-cap. It allows you to prevent evaporation during the reaction, ensuring accurate results. We use only virgin polypropylene to manufacture the following types of PCR strip tubes.
Types of PCR Reaction Tubes We Offer:
- 0.2ml PCR Tube Flat Cap
More info about PCR Tubes:
What Are PCR Tubes?
PCR tubes are small tubes made of high-quality virgin polypropylene with a conical bottom. They have uniform thin walls to facilitate efficient heat transfer to the sample. These tubes are autoclavable and work well with most thermal cyclers.
What Are the Applications of PCR Tubes?
The most common application of PCR tubes includes various molecular biology biochemistry experiments requiring real-time PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction). As these tubes have ultra-thin walls, they are perfect for accurate and steady thermal transfer in an array of thermocyclers. Our thin-wall PCR tubes meet the protocols required for PCR, qPCR, reverse transcriptions, and a variety of other applications.
