US PV installed capacity is expected to increase by 166% in 2011

According to IHSiSuppli's PV market research report, in 2011, US PV (PV) installation capacity will increase by 166%, and the overall installation capacity will reach 2.4GW. California will take the lead.
The number of PV installations this year is expected to increase from 39,000 in 2010 to 49,000. Of the 2.4 GW PV installations expected to be installed this year, ground installations will account for approximately 1.4 GW, commercial installations will account for 710 MW, and residential installations will account for 270 MW.
With many power plant-level projects to be built this year, the US PV installation growth rate in 2011 will be more than double that of 2010. Last year's growth rate was 80%, and the installation capacity of that year was only slightly higher than 900MW. The newly installed PV capacity is expected to be 3.1 GW next year and approximately 5.5 GW in 2015. Although the installed capacity in Europe is expected to decline next year, the US PV market will see strong growth as the US Department of Energy provides loan guarantees to help stimulate the solar PV market and help large projects reduce capital costs.
In the US states, California will be far ahead in developing solar energy this year, with an installed capacity of 1 GW. New Jersey is expected to rank second, with installation capacity exceeding 260 MW, followed by Arizona 240 MW, New Mexico 140 MW, and Nevada 120 MW. The top 10 states will be Pennsylvania, Florida, New York, North Carolina and Colorado. With the launch of this year's large-scale project, Nevada will be among the top 10 for the first time and will jump to fifth place. At the same time, although New Jersey ranks second, it may encounter resistance due to weakened political support from its governor.

From the perspective of overall renewable energy, many states in the United States have great growth potential by 2020. The US Renewable Portfolio Standard (RenewablePortfolioStandard) requires an increase in the proportion of renewable energy.
IHSiSuppli's research shows that Michigan, Kansas and Washington have set targets and plan to increase the share of photovoltaic or renewable energy generation to 10-20% in 2015-2020, although nothing has been achieved by 2010. progress. New Mexico is actively advancing, and large projects will help the state achieve its goal of achieving 10% PV and renewable energy generation by 2020.
New York's renewable energy development rate will be among the best in the next four years, and the compound annual growth rate is expected to be 29% in 2010-2015. But Colorado has the greatest potential for expansion: in 2010, the state's renewable energy generation accounted for only 5%, but it is expected to rise to 27% in 2020, an increase of about 22%.
Some states in the United States have also set renewable energy targets, which will last until 2030, indicating that the market will not reach its peak.
