Recently, Sandvik Coromant, the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, the French Machinery Industry Technology Center (Cetim) and other stakeholders in the field of metal cutting have jointly developed a new international standard - ISO13399 "Cutting Tool Data" Expression and Exchange, which is designed to eliminate the time-consuming and laborious obstacles in collecting cutting tool information.
The ISO13399 International Standard provides metal cutting data in a neutral form that is independent of any particular system or enterprise terminology nomenclature. Manufacturers can import relevant information directly into PLM, CAD, CAM and CNC simulation systems or tool management systems. By quickly accessing the required tool data, the shop floor can determine the best machining solution that matches the most efficient tool selection.
