Superhard material surface plating technology and application

Abstract This paper systematically discusses the interfacial reaction, interface structure and interface bonding of all-gangue and cubic boron nitride superabrasives with typical metal interfaces. According to the interface between metal and diamond, the typical metal is: an affinity metal that reacts with the diamond interface to form a stable carbide, such as titanium, tungsten, chromium, molybdenum, etc.; an inert metal that does not react with the diamond interface, such as copper. A graphitized genus that contacts the diamond interface to promote diamond graphitization, such as iron, cobalt, nickel, and the like. The relationship between the affinity metal and the superabrasive interface to form the compound and the relationship between the structural characteristics of the chemical and the interfacial bonding strength are discussed, and the conditions for the strong bonding of the affinity metal to the diamond are given. Based on these theoretical results, the characteristics and application effects of various plating methods are explained.
